Guidance for Parents Who Want to Understand Their Child’s Development More Deeply
Over the past several years, we have worked closely with autistic children and their families to understand something that is often missed in traditional therapy approaches:
Development does not begin with behaviour or speech.
It begins with the nervous system.
Many families reach out after trying multiple therapies and still feeling uncertain about their child’s progress.
A consultation offers the space to step back, understand your child’s developmental foundations, and explore what support may truly help.
This is not a quick-fix session.
It is a deep developmental conversation about your child.

Parents Usually Reach Out When…
This consultation may be helpful if:
Your child has received an autism diagnosis
You feel unsure about which therapies to prioritise
Your child struggles with regulation, attention, or communication
Therapy feels stressful or mechanical for your child
You want to understand the deeper developmental picture
You want guidance that includes parents as active partners
Many parents say that before the consultation they felt overwhelmed by too many opinions and directions.
The goal of this conversation is to help bring clarity and perspective.

What Happens In A Consultation
During the consultation we explore your child’s development from multiple perspectives.
This may include:
Developmental history
Sensory and regulation patterns
Communication foundations
Motor coordination and body awareness
Attention and engagement patterns
Learning readiness and environment

Instead of focusing only on symptoms, we look at how your child’s nervous system is organising experience.
Parents often leave with:
A clearer understanding of their child’s developmental profile
Insights about regulation and sensory needs
Guidance on developmental priorities
Suggestions for next steps
The Regulation-First Lens
Many traditional interventions focus directly on behaviour or speech.
But when a child’s nervous system is under stress, these approaches can sometimes increase pressure rather than support development.
The Regulation-First approach focuses on strengthening foundational systems such as:
Sensory organisation
Motor development
Emotional regulation
Shared attention
Relational engagement
When these systems become more stable, many children begin to show more natural progress in communication, learning, and connection.

Mrs Mini Dwivedi Gopinathan is a wonderful human being and cares for well being of all Children's with special needs. But what makes her special is her knowledge bank which she has mustered over years. I am raising a 9 year old Smart and Handsome Autistic Child, like every parent raising a neuro divergent child I was always worried about his well being.
I got to know about Mrs Mini and her Trust PlayStreet through a functional medicine programme. I watched her video uploaded on YouTube and really liked the content. It was an Eureka moment for me and I immediately joined her parents based "Sensory Integration Course" which has empowered us (parents) in understanding his needs and challenges, and completely changed our perspective towards him and the way he perceives the world what earlier appeared inappropriate behavior, clumsiness, lack of awareness, stimming now became deficiencies and her course empowered us to address them in a methodical way. To me her SI Course is knowledge served on a platter at very very reasonable prices, i recommended it to all parents.
I am presently undergoing one more parent based "Step Up Your Coregulation" course with Mrs Mini, this course has further reshaped our lives, it has facilitated our son to regulate his emotions through us, from being a Teacher we became friends, provider and a regulator of his emotions. It has taken stress out of our lives, from constant teaching mode we have moved to exploring his world and the world around him. It’s a program which has definitely made us wiser, calmer and taken us on a progressive path.
I strongly recommend all parents to subscribe to Mini Ma'am online programs for those who are privileged can join her in person.

We got engaged with Mini in her role as RDI consultant for our teenage kid Kabir. It has given us opportunity to reflect in our own journey with Kabir and probably as anxious parents the mistakes that we made in this journey.
One of the important lessons that I personally understood is moving away from instructional to co-regulation framework as it helps build confidence in the kid and has a faster learning process for them.
Also as to how our anxieties shape up kid's behaviour ( and vice versa) and the tools available to manage these better.
One other aspect that I understood from Mini is usage of declarative language as a mode of communication with Kabir which again helps in reducing his anxiety.
Our journey continues with Mini and Kabir and the positive impact that we have experienced till date reconfirms our choice of adopting RDI and choosing Mini as our mentor for this journey.
And lastly while we had in our past focussed very much on speech, social assimilation and academics for Kabir, the realisation that these are important but there are more important and constructive areas that we as parents need to work upon was an enlightenment. Thanks Mini for resetting our goals and expectations.

A Note For Parents
Sometimes the most helpful step is simply to pause, look at the bigger picture, and understand what your child may truly need. If you feel that guidance may help at this stage, we would be glad to support you in that conversation.
